It is the middle of January and I am in full gardening mode!
I have been cleaning out my existing garden beds to get ready for the new season. Usually, I do this in November and December, when things are dying back, but we had an extremely busy holiday season and I let this chore slide.
We have also taken out the tiller and been getting it back up and in running order (it only gets used once or twice a year, so it was in need of a tune up) so I can start my new super-sized garden for my miniature, family and friends, CSA.
Seedlings have been started for tomatoes and bell peppers and I’ll be starting jalapenos, tomatillos, and herbs in the next few weeks. Already 52 tomatoes have moved from vermiculite into planting medium and paper pots to mature and get ready for moving out to garden in five or six weeks, with more than 30 waiting to get a little stronger, a little taller.
Also, I have ordered seeds, seed potatoes, and transplants for some of my other beds. Berries will be available, soon, and I will add those to my plan and my days workload.
Is there anything more exciting that the prospects of a new years growing season?
